Position title
php developer
Description

An exciting position has become available for an immediate start. We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic PHP Developer with a thirst for knowledge and a sense of humour to join our team.

If you know your LAMP from your Logstash and you know that life is most certainly not like a box of chocolates - especially for diabetics, then we would love to hear from you!

As an integral part of the back-end team you will be required to write custom code and applications using a range of technologies from briefs provided as well as maintaining projects with an existing code-base.

You will report directly to the Technical Lead but will also liaise with other departments to ensure seamless production of websites, apps and a range of other technical projects.

There will be plenty of opportunities to progress and influence our growth for the right candidate.

What about Coronavirus.

While we would normally be majority office based, given the current situation we've recently embraced remote working and we are looking for someone new to join our studio.

The right person will be provided with the appropriate equipment and be brought into our team and invited onto our social calls to initiate them into our crew.

We appreciate that you may have loads of question so feel free to drop us an e-mail and ask anything you want to know.

As for the remote working, this is potentially here to stay, so we're open to anyone, anywhere as long as you're the right sort of person and can deliver on what we need.

Who we are.

Established in 2006, we've built a reputation for consistently delivering high quality work that keeps people coming back for more and recommending us to the people they know. We have built a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from start-ups through to multi-national companies, working on a variety of projects including; responsive websites, bespoke software, mobile apps, games and so much more.

We offer excellent benefits, with great professional development in a fast-paced but informal and collaborative environment, making it an exciting place to build your career. Do you hate Mondays? We don't. Our flexitime allows us to start work at 10 and everyone is always online early.

We've got a whole bunch of interesting projects to get stuck in to and you can be a part of helping us grow even further.

What we're not.

We're not going to try to sell you this job based on buzzwords, and bullsh#t. We know you don't care how unique we are, or how many boundaries we're pushing, we're not trying to save the world here and we won't try and tell you different.

You'll never be asked to sacrifice the important things in life because you're chained to your desk till all hours. Got kids? You'll never have to miss reading a bed time story. Budding Rockstar with a gig at the weekend? No danger - You'll be waist deep in groupies by sundown!

We regularly get together for company sponsored social events, we've done Escape Rooms, we've had a weekend in Dublin, had a night at the dogs and we've spent a weekend at The British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone, (we've also sank quite a few beers along the way) but if anything's not your idea of fun then you're welcome to give it a miss.

Who you are.

For us the ideal candidate has the right personality, you don't need to have decades of experience, but you do need to be passionate, and driven.

We do however expect you to have an opinion, and the courage to share it. We want people with ideas about best practices, the best tech stack to work with (and why), new and emerging libraries/techniques that the dinosaurs of the industry have missed or are too afraid to try, but above all someone who cares about the role they're undertaking, and understands that being a developer takes a special type of person and that person is you!

What we're looking for.

Candidates must have experience in these areas:

  • PHP (5.6 + 7+)
  • MySQL
  • An MVC framework (e.g. Symfony, Laravel)
  • Knowledge of command line
  • Git / Version Control

  • Free lunch once a month (commonly called Free Food Fridays)
  • Opportunities to progress yourself and the company
  • Invites to social events of all kinds (well when we can)
  • Access to hundreds of online industry publications
  • Access to the company pension scheme

Design Box is easily commutable from Doha Qatar, we have free on-site parking and great public transport links.

Send us a covering letter, CV and anything else that showcases you, and if you get invited along for an interview, we don’t care what you wear! Suits aren’t made for developers, they’re for Men in Black. We do however care how you present yourself and your work, and how passionate you are.

Good Luck!
